Join us for our upcoming AFSACK Salon Conversation, continuing the ongoing series spotlighting the exhibiting artists of Un Ciel intérieur (An inner Sky) . MACS MTO Inaugural Exhibition.
AFSACK is honored to welcome multidisciplinary artist Pinaree Sanpitak in conversation with Alexandra Baudelot, Director of Musée d’Art et de Culture Soufis MTO, for “Reciprocal Vessels: The Body and the Inner Journey.” In this discussion, Baudelot introduces us to the visionary artist as they reflect on the body as a symbolic site where physical and metaphorical spaces intersect.
Pinaree Sanpitak’s work, spanning over three decades, explores recurring motifs—such as breasts and the female body, vessels, stupas, clouds, and milk—through painting, installation, photography, collage, sculpture, and performance. Enlisting paper, glass, textiles, feathers, ceramics, and food, she utilizes materials with organic and tactile qualities to construct a language for the subtle nature of existing in a body and a universe.
This conversation will examine the symbolic dimensions of Sanpitak’s visual lexicon, her dialogue with Sufi principles, and the new artworks created specifically for Un Ciel intérieur. This session will also explore how her multifaceted practice distills the essence of womanhood—rooted in her own bodily awareness and life—into universal symbols that navigate between the sacred and the corporeal, creating a profound reflection on the body as a vessel of both personal and collective meaning.
This event will take place on Zoom and registration is available here.

The AFSACK Salon Series is an initiative of the American Friends of Sufi Arts, Culture & KnowledgeTM (AFSACK®), a seasonal webinar where recent cultural, artistic, and scholarly works relating to Sufism are discussed. Each hour-long conversation focuses on a theme related to our guests’ recent projects. As a platform for dialogue, the Salon Series seeks to foster interdisciplinary conversations that bridge together broader concepts that are shared across various fields and subjects with Sufism. From art installations, to book talks, to album debuts, the Salon Series is a platform for sharing, dialogue, and access.
