With the twelfth installment of Salon Conversations, AFSACK® kicked off a new series with Alexandra Baudelot, the Director of the Musée d’Art et de Culture Soufis MTO.

Opening on September 28th, 2024, the Musée d’Art et de Culture Soufis MTO™ (MACS MTO™) is the first museum dedicated to exploring the principles and artistic expressions of Sufism. Built on a foundational platform of dialogue with the beliefs and questions of our time, MACS MTO engages Sufism as a framework for multidisciplinary exploration.

For this first session, Sufism as a Museological Approach: Opening the Musée d’Art et de Culture Soufis MTO, Baudelot joined AFSACK to share how Sufism can act as a catalyst for artistic research and discovery, previewing both the opening of the museum and the Salon Conversations she’ll host throughout the upcoming series.

The AFSACK Salon Series is an initiative of the American Friends of Sufi Arts, Culture & Knowledge (AFSACK®), a seasonal webinar where recent cultural, artistic, and scholarly works relating to Sufism are discussed. Each hour-long conversation focuses on a theme related to our guests’ recent projects. As a platform for dialogue, the Salon Series seeks to foster interdisciplinary conversations that bridge together broader concepts that are shared across various fields and subjects with Sufism. From art installations, to book talks, to album debuts, the Salon Series is a platform for sharing, dialogue, and access.
