Attunement: Exploring Architecture Beyond Aesthetics - A Conversation with Alberto Pérez-Gómez

Architecture that is connected and attuned to its context and its inhabitants has the quality and power to enhance our sense of self and our relationships with the world beyond.

On April 18, 2023, Alberto Pérez-Gómez, Professor Emeritus of McGill University, discussed the important concept of attunement in architecture through the lens of atmosphere.

The beauty and meaning of architecture are derived from its capacity to foster human health and self-awareness through design by creating a multisensory experience. This salon talk explored qualitative aspects of architecture and its connection to the concept of attunement for an alternative approach to conventional formalism.

AFSACK hosted this ninth installment of its Salon Series, an inspirational and thought-provoking conversation with scholar and philosopher Alberto Pérez-Gómez. The event was moderated by Nooshin Esmaeili, Architect & PhD candidate at the University of Calgary, Canada.
